Greetings from the President of the BC section of Neurology

We represent the neurologists of the Province of British Columbia, and within the provincial medical association, we form a subsection of Society of Specialist Physicians and Surgeons. As a group we are dedicated to the investigation and treatment of diseases of the human nervous system.

There are approximately seventy-five practicing neurologists within the province. We work in a variety of practices, some in group associations, some in individual practices, and some in University research positions.

Most communities and urban centers within BC have resident neurologists, or access to visiting neurologists from major centers.

We only see patients by referral from other physicians, both family doctors and other specialists. We often provide long term follow up of patients with reference to their neurologic diseases. We collaborate closely with our neurosurgery colleagues who specialize in the surgical treatment of neurologic diseases. We see patients in our offices as well as within the hospitals, and provide both routine as well as state of the art emergency consultation and care.
